What

TiE University is a program of TiE global with the objective of fostering entrepreneurship among college and university students. It brings together college students, entrepreneurs, investors and institutions on one common platform and facilitates learning. It is a comprehensive ecosystem of stakeholders from the entrepreneurial ecosystem which works on enabling campus ideas to transform into viable businesses.

The TiE University program enhances college learning with mentoring by real life entrepreneurs, bootcamps, workshops, internships, local and global networking and access to funding sources.  The program helps university startup founders and teams successfully launch and scale their ventures more rapidly.

TiE University Global Pitch Competition (Annually)

A pitch competition for campus-based startups. It is open to both idea stage entrepreneurs as well as operational startups based out of colleges and universities. In the past, startups with one to five founders in college have participated. Over a period of 2 months, the teams are mentored by TiE members and ecosystem partners, undergo a wide range of workshops on topics relating to business, pitch their ideas to a jury at the local level, and if selected, compete with the winning teams from across the globe. The winning teams get cash (over $100K cash equity-free award) and in-kind prizes worth $500,000 as well as the opportunity to pitch to potential investors.

TiE University Global Hackathon

A ONE-day weekend gathering of high school and college students & teams organized to address specifically defined challenges!

Students using a fast-paced ‘hackathon” methodology will be introduced to a global issue by subject matter experts. Students will choose a challenge to address, receive mentoring and feedback in generating an app showcase and integrated solutions, and present their app ideas to a set of judges for cash awards and recognition, all on the same day!

Basically, after students work together brainstorming, planning, and prototyping an app, they will create a presentation that they’ll pitch to a panel of judges during the showcase. The event concludes with the recognition of students and a celebration of all participants!

So at the APPATHON@HCC, you can do anything from design an app and showcase your ingenuity by making something uniquely creative based on a given theme of Health Tech and Climate Tech Teams can consist of 1-5 members and you will have approximately 3 hours to create something amazing! and Yes, you can do it by yourself, but it won’t be the same!

Hackathons, like the APPATHON@HCC, are a can’t miss experience! You can learn something new, make something that the world has never seen before, and win some amazing cash prizes!
